Hurkl's Recall (1993)

5 1/2" x 7" watercolor on board.

Hurkl's Recall was painted for the Antiquities expansion set of Magic the Gathering. This was painted in one evening. It took me 18 hours and I didn't get any sleep that night, but it was quite fun to do. The description for the card was putting something back - Jesper, the art director just told me to paint someone putting something back into a chest. My friend, Susan, suggested (sarcastically) that I should draw a woman on her hand and knees putting an artifact back in the chest with her teeth. Well I did try to make the picture sexy, but not that sexy!
